Nothing gold can stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay.

– Robert Frost

This poem was unfortunately the focus of a Mad Men episode which makes it difficult for me to take it seriously, but it’s too fucking good to not put up here at this point in my life.

Someone tell me how life works for people who are happy all the time.

Thanks.
